Lawnbrook Estate offers a peaceful retreat just a short drive from the city. Located directly beside the 2,100-hectare Greenmount State Forest, our estate benefits from exceptionally pure groundwater that imparts a natural sweetness and crispness to our wines. Spanning nearly five hectares, Lawnbrook features diverse flora and fauna, a 230-meter-long creek flowing gently through the property, and ample parking for guests. Whether you’re a lover of fine food, an enthusiast of premium wines and spirits, or simply seeking a beautiful place to unwind, Lawnbrook Estate is a prime destination for connoisseurs and nature lovers alike.
A New Chapter Begins
In 1999, a special moment sparked a lifelong connection to this place. The previous owner was married in Kalamunda and celebrated their wedding reception at a charming, little-known venue with rustic appeal — The Packing Shed.
Years later, in 2014, Lawnbrook Estate was listed for sale. Embracing the opportunity for a fresh start, they made the leap and moved to the property in August of that year. After a period of restoration and planning, The Packing Shed @ Lawnbrook officially reopened its doors in February 2017, welcoming guests once again to experience its unique blend of history, nature, and hospitality.
Putting an "X" on the Map
The Packing Shed Distilling Co. was born during a time of uncertainty—a creative spark ignited in the quiet of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the world on pause and time to reflect, a new idea began to take shape.
What started as a conversation quickly turned into a vision. After nine months of navigating applications, paperwork, emails, and meetings, the dream became a reality. By the end of 2020, we were officially approved as a licensed distillery.
Today, The Packing Shed Distilling Co. stands as a symbol of resilience, creativity, and the spirit of starting fresh—right here in the heart of the Bickley Valley.

Our Winemaking Philosophy
At Lawnbrook Estate, we keep things simple: great wine starts in the vineyard. We take a hands-on, thoughtful approach to growing our grapes—nurturing the vines with care and letting the unique character of the Bickley Valley shine through.
We handpick our grapes when they’re just right, making sure each bunch is full of flavour and perfectly ripe. From there, we keep things as natural as possible in the winery. That means minimal intervention, gentle handling, and just enough guidance to let the fruit do the talking.
This land has a long story to tell. As the original home of The Packing Shed, Lawnbrook has deep roots in the region’s farming history. We’re proud to carry that legacy forward—bottling up a little piece of the valley in every vintage we make.

A Spirit of Craftsmanship
While winemaking is at the heart of what we do, our love for flavour and fermentation doesn’t stop with grapes. During the quiet days of the pandemic, a new idea began to take shape—and that’s how our distilery was born.
In our small-batch distillery, we apply the same hands-on, artisanal approach to crafting spirits as we do with our wines. Using locally sourced botanicals and a carefully refined distillation process, we create distinctive gins and liqueurs that are full of character and flavour.
